Danielle Ballard of Memphis, Tenn., has committed to LSU, she said in an email message relayed by her club coach, Eric Daniels of Memphis Elite.

Ranked No. 24 in the 2012 by ESPN HoopGurlz, Ballard had been considering Auburn, Duke, Mississippi, Rutgers and UCLA.

"I am so excited to play for coach Nikki Caldwell, her staff and with my future teammates," Ballard said. "I have made this decision after unofficially visiting Louisiana State University.  In addition, I unofficially visited several other schools and had many other division one scholarship offers. But I decided on LSU because of the excitement around the program and what the coaching staff and players believe we can do during my four years.  Louisiana State University, I feel is a great fit for me as a student-athlete."

The 5-foot-9 guard was an all-state selection after leading Memphis Central to the Tennessee AAA title.
